Its not over, its just been delayed... for a while

Had to make one of the most difficult decisions of my life this week. Contacted H&R earlier this week and told them that unfortunately I wont be able to make the trip to Lethbridge later this year.

My Mums condition has deteriorated over the last few weeks and after a lot of discussion with family and friends I feel I must stay here, where I am needed and try to help her and Dad as much as possible, so much so that I have found a job that gets me home most nights, so I can be around when needed.

Thanks to everyone who has been in touch with help and advice, it was appreciated.

To the people who have made the move,or are in the process of going over, I sincerely hope it works out for you all and I hope to be there at some point in the future if the opportunity arises again.

Time for a change :(
Things haven't improved much at work,I have 1 good week then 4 short ones, struggling to earn enough to get by on, let alone save for Canada, just not getting the miles or hours so i have decided its time to move on before it gets too late to make a difference.
Sent my C.V out to a few places that have been advertising and I've had an interview with one of them today.
I think it went well, i definitely got a good vibe from it. Should find out in a couple of weeks and IF i get it should be starting before the end of March.
Fingers crossed.

As a footnote, heard from the company i had my interview with and they are waiting to hear from their head office as to how many drivers they can take on this at this time, they have said thay will let me know as soon as they find out.

Well, we had a brilliant holiday in T'Egypt again this year, been to same place 4 years running now and it gets better each time, feels like home.

Things definately seem to have picked up over the last couple of weeks with new job, working for Elddis Transport from Consett, County Durham, but running out of the Worksop depot, tramping.
Paid a low basic wage but then money is made up by so much per KM traveled and then so much per drop/collection, so quite similar to how things are paid in Canada.
The new contract has started now so should see if the money's any good before Xmas, just got the holiday to enjoy first, might be the last chance to see the Red Sea for a while.
2 weeks of well earned rest and relaxation around the pool in Sharm el sheik and maybe a bit a scuba diving as well, can't wait! :)

Got confirmation from H&R on friday for my start date.......December 2010!

Starting to think i have dropped a major bollock leaving my last job..... not earning enough money in the new one to still be able to save the extra cash we'll need for Canada :(
So, spent all day re-writing my cv and looking for a job that pays a bit better here in the UK or maybe have reconsider the timing on when we will be going?

Been offered the job at H&R, got an email from their immigration lawyers last thursday. I've accepted the offer, to start next year sometime after march, will have a better idea of timing after Christmas.

ACPO report finally came back this week, took its time but "NO TRACE" so worth the wait :-)

Gateshead

We had a drive up to Gateshead yesterday to have an interview with H&R Transports driver recruiter Lyndon Lomanovskis.

We had a couple of things to ask after we had read differing views on the forums and other blogs i have been following and all our questions were answered.

I got the feeling it went well? will have to wait and see what happens in a few weeks time, that's when they will let people know whether they were successful or not.

Well today is quite a sad day for me, leaving my job where i have been for the last 2 years(exactly!) to move on to something new. Not Canada, yet but getting there slowly but surely.

I have enjoyed my time here at MJS Logistics and would like to wish Mark, Paul and all the lads and lasses all the best for the future.

I will try and put some pics up later of some of the loads I have carried just for people to see what I have been doing, I think some people will find it interesting? If not at least its freeing up some space on my hard drive!

Interview is next weekend in Gateshead, I'll let you know how I get on.

well the ball is well and truly rolling now.
Sent off to ACPO for criminal records check on monday so that should be back soon.
Got estate agents coming around next week to value house for sale or rent, will probably rent out for first 6 months to make sure we have made the right decision?
Just got to find a job now :)
